Bran Castle - Dracula's Castle

Starting to be built after November 19-th 1377 from the direct order of the king Ludovic I of Anjou of Hungary for a defence purpouse, the Bran castle ( in fact a citadel not just a castle ) was blocked the way trough the Rucar pass which made the connection between Wallaquia and Transylvania functioning as a custom place.

The castle was built on a rock named of Tydricus ( Dietrich in german) because with more that 100 years before a capitain of the German Knights built a wooden citadel from the same idea to defence the pass of Rucar which was always used by the tartars to enter in Transylvania.

Between 1920-1945 the Bran castle was donated buy the local autorithies to the queen Mary the wife of Ferdinand the king which was lead Romania in to the Great War and in the final made the Big Romania by the union in 1918 of Bucovina, Basarabia and Transylvania with Romania.

Nowadays in to the castle we can see many objects used here in to the past, furniture, metal objects, sculptures, religious objects, mirrors, secret stairs, rooms decorated in different styles. All these was destinate to transform a castle for defence in a royal residence.
