We’ll start from Southern Romania – Wallachia region and we’ll continue to Transylvania, the most famous and popular region with its medieval charm, old traditions and legends. We’ll follow a scenic route crossing the Carpathians mountains which are offering amazing views and then we’ll be pleasantly surprised by the Transylvanian green rolling hills and the countryside scenery. To complete our experience we’ll visit the local craftsmen and we’ll taste the delicious food and drinks.

Day 1. Giurgiu Port / Bucharest – Curtea de Arges - Horezu
We can start this tour from Giurgiu, the port on the Danube River where the river cruise boats are disembarking or from Bucharest, if your cruise package includes a night in this city.
In the morning you’ll meet our tour guide at the established starting point and you’ll start your post cruise tour in Romania.
First, we’ll drive through the Southern region of Romania – Wallachia, a former medieval state founded in 14th century by the family of the famous Vlad Dracula.
First stop will be at Curtea de Arges, the first capital of Wallachia. We’ll visit the ruins of Princely Court and Princely Church (14th century). The second stop will be at Arges monastery, originally built in 16th century, a masterpiece of local architecture and the burial place of the Romanian kings.
We’ll continue our journey to Horezu area. Here we’ll visit a very interesting fortified house (Cula Greceanu), a typical architecture for Wallachia. Horezu is also an important ceramic center and we’ll stop to have a look in the local pottery workshops.
Horezu monastery (UNESCO), a jewellery of monastic architecture is a very interesting stop too.

Day 2. Horezu – Transalpina – Hunedoara – Sibiel
Breakfast. We’ll cross the Carpathians mountains though a very scenic route crossing the Jiu River Valley. On the other side of the mountains we’ll reach Transylvania – the famous and the most popular tourist destination from Romania – the land of medieval towns, impressive castles, unique fortified churches and charming villages.
What a better start to introduce you to Transylvania than visiting the biggest castle – Corvin’s castle, the former residence of the Transylvanian rulers, dating since 15th century. The castle was built in the time of John the Huniade, a famous Transylvanian Governor and of his son – Matei Corvin, the king of Hungary.
In the second part of the day we’ll explore the mountain villages from Transylvania. Located at the foot of the Carpathians mountains, this area is known as one of the important pastoral areas of Romania where the main activity used to be for centuries and still is, growing animals (sheep and cows) and production of cheese. It is an area with its own customs, traditions, beliefs and way of life, many of them preserved until today.
We’ll enjoy a horse driven wagon ride through a village and its surroundings, we can admire the old houses and see how the farming land and households are organized, we’ll see a local household and gardening area. The best way to end such a day is by having a traditional home-made dinner with local food and drinks. You have the chance to taste the local cheese as we are in a main area of producing it.
Overnight in a local guesthouse (ensuite bathroom, Wi-Fi included).
Day 3. SIBIEL – SIBIU – BIERTAN – SIGHISOARA
Breakfast. In the morning we’ll go to Sibiu and we’ll have a walking tour of Sibiu's Old Town. Dating since the end of 12th century, Sibiu is one of the largest and most prosperous medieval towns. In the mid 17th century it had the same size as Vienna. Our tour of Sibiu will include the big Square, the Little Square, Towers and fortifications. Transylvania is a multicultural region where several nations and religions have been living together since old times. In Sibiu we will see three important cathedrals belonging to the three most popular Christian nominations in Transylvania: Evangelical - Lutheran Cathedral, Catholic Cathedral, Orthodox Cathedral.
We’ll continue our post cruise trip in Romania, driving in a very scenic rural area. Admire the beauty of the Transylvanian green rolling hills and the old charming Saxon villages scattered among the hills and alleys. Almost all the villages in the south of Transylvania had a type of fortification to protect the local community. We’ll visit the Biertan village, an important trade centre in the Middle Age and the Biertan fortified church (UNESCO site), built in 15-16th century. Here was the headquarters of the Evangelical Bishops for about 300 years.
End the day in Sighisoara (UNESCO), also called “the Pearl of Transylvania ''. The city has its origins in 12-13th century and it is the best preserved medieval town in Transylvania. The Renaissance style architecture, the colourful houses, narrow streets, towers and medieval wall make the charm of this amazing place. Church on the Hill and the Clock Tower are the most important buildings. We’ll see all this on our walking tour of Sighisoara.
We’ll stay overnight at Sighisoara Hotel*** or similar, located in the Old Town.
Day 4. SIGHISOARA – RUPEA – VISCRI – PREJMER - BRASOV
Breakfast. We’ll continue visiting more attractions, part of the German heritage in Transylvania. In the village Saschiz we’ll see (outside only) the UNESCO 14th century church. Next we’ll stop to taste local jams and chutneys, made with natural fruits from the area.
Rupea fortress, dating since 14th century, is an excellent sample of a Transylvanian fortress. It has an impressive structure of 11000 sqm of towers, bulwarks, 3 concentric fortified walls and 3 interior precincts. It had an important role in the territorial administration of Transylvania.
Viscri village is one of the most known and charming villages of Transylvania which preserve authentic houses and way of life. Viscri fortified church (UNESCO) is the oldest and most important building. We’ll visit the church, fortifications and the museum. Enjoy a nice walk on the village streets, take a look at the local hand-made products and experience the rural life of the past.
The next visit of the day will be at Prejmer fortified church (UNESCO) the biggest fortress of its kind and a great sample of a combo between religious and defensive structures.
The afternoon is reserved for a walking tour of Brasov. The first written document mentioning the city is dated in 1235. Brasov was one of the most important and prosperous trade centers in the Middle Age. It was probably the most fortified city and many towers, bastions and a big part of the wall are still preserved and we’ll see them along the tour. Other highlights are Black Church, the biggest gothic cathedral east of Vienna, Council Square, Ecaterina’s Gate, Rope’s street, White tower, Black Tower, fortified wall

Brown Bear Watching Tour – optional activity
Just before sunset we’ll go into the forest assisted by a ranger and we’ll wait in a special watch tower to see the brown bears in their natural habitat. The program is about 2 hours long, but depends a lot on the bear's activity. These bears are truly wild and we have a 90 – 95% chance of seeing them in the hides.
However, we cannot guarantee success.

Day 5. BRASOV – BRAN – SINAIA - BUCHAREST
Breakfast. In the morning we’ll visit the most famous castle from Romania – Bran castle, also known as Dracula’s castle, one of the most famous castles from Europe, built in 14th century to secure the border of Transylvania and to be a custom point.
We’ll leave Bran and Transylvania on the way back to Bucharest. On the route we’ll cross again the Carpathian mountains and we’ll stop at Sinaia to visit the Peles Castle, built in 19th century as a royal summer residence by our king Carol I. It was one of the most modern castles of Europe in its time due the technologies and facilities existing inside. It is a “must to see” if you are traveling in Romania.
Our journey will end in Bucharest with a panoramic tour of the city. Highlights: Parliament Palace, Triumph Arch, Athenaeum, Revolution Square, Royal Palace, etc.
Overnight in a 4 stars hotel with a central location.
Day 6. BUCHAREST - departure
Breakfast. Time at your leisure in the morning.
We’ll transfer you at the airport according to your flight time.

To secure your booking a deposit of 100 euro/person is required.
The final payment has to be made with minimum 15 days prior the tour start.
The payments can be made online by credit card or by banking transfer
In certain circumstances can be made cash or card on arrivalCancellations
Special conditions. If an emergency situation occurs (pandemic, disasters, revolution, war, etc) and the Romanian authorities or the authorities from the traveler’s country impose restrictions to travel, to enter or leave the country, the cancellation can be made anytime without any penalty.Standard conditions. If none of the above mentioned situations occur the cancellation policy is:
No penalty apply if the cancellation is made with minimum 15 days prior the tour. Any deposit paid will be refunded in maximum 10 days.
50 % penalty fee apply if the cancellation is made with 5-14 days prior the our departure.
100% penalty fee apply if the cancellation is made with less than 5 days prior the tour start or in case of NO SHOW.
